A warm welcome! You will find a warm welcome from Samantha and Jules in the uniquely informal atmosphere of this comfortable family home. From our quiet and secluded bed and breakfast, you can explore the nearby towns and countryside and the many local golf courses, or if you prefer you can just relax in the peaceful gardens and spacious rooms. The oldest part of the house dates back to the 18th century, and retains many period features. The best-preserved room in the house is the Penthouse, with the original plaster cornices still visible. Over the years, the house has figured in many local stories - among many others there's the man who used to live in the pig-pen, and the gravestone which refuses to be photographed. We'd be happy to take you on a tour of the house - see how people's lives have changed over the last 250 years! This is an area which is steeped in history! The first people to live here were the Picts some 5000 years ago. In 700AD, St Columbine landed just five miles down the coast at Arbroath, bringing Christianity to Scotland, and the abbey he built has shaped commerce and politics ever since. (The abbey built and controlled the port, and in 1320 the Declaration of Arbroath was signed there.) We're surrounded by castles, both ruined and inhabited, and almost everywhere you look you'll see the spirit of Scotland speaking down the ages. |
Great for Children! We are child friendly! The beach at Lunan Bay is a short, safe walk away. We have two family rooms and can supply single beds (guaranteed bounce-proof) for children. Children from ages 3 to 80 will love our park and our soft toy library! And, what child wouldn't love a picnic under our "secret tree", in the safety of the kitchen garden? |
